Due to the overwhelming number of stray, neglected, abused and abandoned animals in this part of the city, and many other communities south of the city, the All-4-Paws Cause is committed to getting into the trenches and making a difference.

Our sole mission and passion is to save lives. The animals we rescue get the best quality of care, love, medical treatment and rehabilitation. Our level of commitment and dedication is second to none.

Hi, I’m Buddy I’m approx. 1 year and 3months old Male mix breed. I came to All-4-Paws Cause with my mama but she was adopted. I have been here 9 months and I’m hoping to find a loving home soon. I get along w/ other dogs and cats. I love to play and run. I am obedient with a great temperament and I love toys. Please adopt me. I would love to have my own home just like my mama has now.

Hi Im Lucky George! Im approx. 1 yr old. Im a Pugel mix. All-4-Paws Cause found me in the middle of the street on the south side of Chicago. I almost got hit by a car. Hi, We're Lolabunny's Pups! Our momma was SO SKINNY even the vet didn't know she was pregnant! When she came to the All-4-Paws Cause, she started eating and eating and never stopped, till finally the vet said, She's a mama!!! We are all very healthy, very playful and obviously VERY cute! Far from the bad neighborhood mama was found in. Now we are happy and play all day. Momma is a GREAT momma for being so young. She takes care of us constantly. She is chubby and healthy now too. She gets the best food and vitamins too! We are tempoarily living at the All-4Paws Cause, just waiting till' we are old enough to find PERMANENT loving people / families of our own! Hi, I'm Lolabunny! I was found very skinny and scared in a really bad neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. I'm a female approx. 10 months old, I love to wiggle and wiggle, jump,and sit in your lap. I'm learning how to play with toys and other dogs. I am very friendly and love to spend time with someone who pets me and gives me love. I live at All-4-Paws Cause right now but I would love to have a permanent loving home that I could call my own. I get along with the other dogs over here but I really want my own family to adopt me.

Hi, I’m WILEY! A Dachshund / Long Hair Chihuahua mix. I’m at the All-4Paws Cause Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. I was dropped off a year ago with the promise of some financial aid to help support me ( which me being a little baby would not have been much) but the lady who dropped me off never showed up again andabandoned me at the All-4-Paws Cause. They were loving and kind enough to find me a foster. till he could no longer keep me, now I am with the All-4-Paws once again. The people who dropped me off swore I was good with kids, yet I am not, also claimed I was housebroken and I am not, so now there is that much more work to do for the people at the All-4-Paws Cause who refused to turn me away. I’m currently chasing bicycles and skateboards and ice cream man vendors when they go by on the sidewalk but I’m working on controlling it. I have a little separation anxiety if you leave me alone all day too. The All-4-Paws Cause rescued me because I was on my way to a high-kill doggy jail.They would not allow it. Please adopt me into your loving home and I promise to be your friend for life! I would b perfect for a couple who has decided not to have children, so I can give all my love and attention tou you. I am very sweet and love to play with toys. There is so much of me to love, you just have to meet me and you will be enthralled by my cuteness!

As a little girl, Estela Michelle Bustos Flores sought out animals in distress, and brought home abandoned animals and tried to hide them. When her parents let her pick a pet goldfish, she chose the fish with one eye.

Now, at 34, Bustos, who works as a waitress in her dad's Argentinian restaurant, El Nandu, obsessively eyeballs every alley she passes, saving stray dogs and abandoned animals she spots in her Brighton Park neighborhood.

One time, she even jumped from a moving car to keep a dog from trying to cross busy Archer Avenue.

"She feels such a deep need to protect these animals because they cannot defend themselves," said neighbor Eduardo Garcia.

Her fiance, Paul Calcano, said of her: "She sacrifices everything for these animals. She even refuses to buy new clothes so she can use the money she saves for the animals."

Bustos said she was "rebellious and angst-ridden" as a teenager, then found her calling and a sense of peace in rescuing abused, abandoned and neglected animals.

Her passion reached its zenith after her beloved American pit bull terrier, T-Bone, died eight years ago on Bustos' birthday. Her sister Tania had saved the dog from an owner who tied him to a radiator, beat him and denied him food.Michelle Bustos credits T-Bone for her dedication to changing the lives of animals in need.

"We're a bunch of people with no money," Bustos said. "How do we start something?"

Bustos' mom, Rita, a former Chicago community organizer, came up with an idea: Rita would allow her longtime artist-friends to teach her how to create art in a variety of disciplines -- pastels, sketches, oils and acrylics and more -- and she would auction off her handiwork. Michelle's mom is being joined by eight professional artists who are contributing their work to a fund-raiser Sunday.

The fund-raising "Artists 4 Life" exhibition will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at El Nandu restaurant, 2731 W. Fullerton.

Bustos said the money raised will be used for veterinary care for her rescued animals and to help create a nonprofit organization. She dreams of opening a no-kill shelter and a dying-animal hospice.
